The Energy Insider
New Bison Insights article series with perspectives from industry insiders who don't want to be quoted by name.
As a part of my investment process, I speak with many people throughout the oil & gas value chain. From CEOs and CFOs of publicly traded companies to private company executives, to services providers at various levels, to midstream owners and operators (pipelines, processing facilities, trucking, shipping) to royalty and minerals owners and buyers. And many more.
Their perspectives are helpful in building a mosaic to play one of the world’s most difficult games: beating the stock market. So far so good on that front for Bison Insights, but it’s a constant, increasingly difficult challenge.
Most of these industry insiders and experts do not want public attention or recognition for these perspectives. Especially when they say that “the emperor has no clothes.” It’s why anonymous accounts are so popular on social media platforms like Twitter/X - they want to be heard, but not for their views to be attributed. Although on social media, anonymous accounts are often unreliable at best, with too much noise and not enough signal.
After a conversation this morning with the CEO and CFO of a high performing publicly traded oil & gas company, I realized that Bison Insights can be used to convey some key takeaways anonymously, having vetted the sources myself. I’m calling it The Energy Insider.
